Very awesome, though I wish there was a video of the entire thing start to finish.

Bob, have you lost weight?

Also, I think your video cleared some things up. I don't know. I gotta say I respect you alot more for being respectful for what I saw in the video.

Personally, I'm completely hyped for the new Castlevania. With that being said, I don't think the game's doing anything wrong by sticking with the same style it's always had since the first: dark, eerie, and scary. I know you didn't insult it for that, lol, but that kid sure was biased.

Anyway... I don't see the gameplay mechanics as much of an issue either. Castlevania has always had whips. I don't know if it'll fail like their last attempt at 3D, but it's obvious they're actually trying with this one, so I think it'll be a good, solid addition to the franchise. It just sucks there's no Shinoa.

Hey, I know a series that'll probably be expanded into a movie, anime, or AAA game -likely an RPG with bullet hell elements- in the near future: Touhou.

I think it's awesome how you inspired the crowd - you're a great public speaker and the fact that you're modest makes you even more awesome!

Keep it up

Nice Q&A, Bob.

However, i would like to make one remark about your "new IP" argument (2nd vid, 2:10).
Your comparison of Super Mario Wii (the name NSMBW sucks) and Little Big Planet is just wrong. LBP had no content. it basically told the player "here, we did all the technical stuff, now entertain yourself". Super Mario Wii on the other hand comes with countless hoers of fun right out of the box and is an overall awesome game. How about comparing LBP to something more of its kind? Like WiiMusic. Or Spore. Or Wario Ware DIY. At least Wii Music and Wario Ware have established brands behind them, yet they fail. User-generated-content games fail by default. They have been failing since their creation.
You are too soft on the game companies and too hard on gamers. When a new brand is tried to be established, it sucks, or at least is inferior to other games out there, you openly admitted that. Now, why should I buy something not-so-good, when I could get something good for the same price? I don't know about you, but I do not have the money to keep financing some crazy self-loving game developer. Either compete with the rest, or be gone.
The same goes for used games. If the game companies can't put out games at least as good as the old ones, then they do not deserve being in the market, period.

On an unrelated note, did you play Spirit Tracks? i would LOVE to hear you opinion, 100% genuine, not trying not to hurt anyones feelings, just let it all out.

Wish I was there. I would have asked you "What do you think about the resurgence of 2-d gaming. Why do you think it's making such a big comeback?"

nice q&a, as stated by the others. hopefully a "real" episode is in the works, though!

nice to hear you admit the certain level of hypocricy with regards to the whole "we want new IPs... Hey look its Mario!" Wanna dig into that on a future episode? I'm the same way, but I kind of wish i wasn't. Video games is probably the only medium in which sequels are frequently better than the originals, but clearly there's a line that developers cross, with yearly released, retreads, etc.

According to Wikipedia, X-Blades is actually a Russian game. So, for once, it's not Japan's fault.

I have one question that I'd want to ask; What did you major in in college? Film? Journalism? English?

I think God of War needs to be the standard in 3rd person action games, just like Arkham Asylum for superhero adaptations (work with the character's style and strengths), and similar.

Its important, of course, not to draw too heavily. After all the original was really a meaner rougher Zelda with more intense combat and increased rpg elements.

Funny I'm not as stoked for Skyward Sword with all the innovations in 3rd person action it almost looks tame. I mean its Zelda a solid action adventure is nice but it still feels a, compared to what's happened, that its just doing what everyone else is only not as much. Comparably when I saw Little Big Planet the thing that stood out was the thing least touted, a multi-player platformer! More so than the customizations (I suck at designing stuff see any paragraph I've ever wrote) this made me think sackboy is here to stay.

Kid Icarus is coming off, slightly as Ninja Gaiden meets God of War for kids. Its just been too long and I am NOT happy about Medusa, goddess of Darkness is back. Retro, okay, I want Nintendo to always be there. but I'm intrigued by other m as much because its a new Samus adventure, adding a new dimension to the character and her activities, not Hijacked by same villain. Pit was "Captain of the Guard" it was a situational thing in game and even out of game (how to control multiple assistants back in the 8bit era) he was fighting alone through some pretty frightening and near demonic looking enemies.

The new one seems to be a little too much of what has come before in other great games, in itself and really REALLY old game only remade, and not standing out. I mean if it was say a mix of Ninja Gaiden and Brutal Legend with its RTS/commander mechanics/goals NOW we're talking. The one distinctive thing about Pit is name aside he isn't a lone kid fighting armies to save the princess. I mean he is, but the variation is more he's doing it as his job, he lost friends to war and curses and the final moments of dark war years in the execution has fallen on him as a last ditch effort. That's the most distinctive thing about the character from then to now.

I don't see that in the trailer so I'm happy he's here but I'm seeing missed opportunities from playing it safe.

I always thought that the only reason Bob hates first person shooters is because he's jealous of them. They always sell more than Mario games.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
15.81 million
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
20 million
Call of Duty 4
13 million
Super Mario Galaxy
8.84
Super Mario Galaxy 2
4.09 million
Super Mario Sunshine
5.5 million
Halo 2
8.46
Call of Duty World at War
12 million
So in conclusion, Bob should stop bashing shooters, he's not helping his image at all and makes himself look just like those "evil" hardcore gamers. Plus, shooters didn't do anything to deserve Bob's constant hatred.
